Sutter Health Clinical Nurse Reviewer - Quality Improvement - (Burlingame) (56hr, Days) in Burlingame, California
Works under the direction of the Quality Improvement Director/Manager to carry out medical record review and abstracting functions for national registry procedures and/or core measure diagnoses. Initiates or follows the requests for quality review, which may include both clinical and operational performance improvement. The Clinical Nurse Reviewer is responsible for verification and documentation of clinical data and adverse outcomes and works with MDs and RNs to clarify, verify, and document clinical data and outcomes for registry, coding, and/or quality improvement purposes. Must carry out work functions in an organized manner in order to meet defined deadlines. The position requires independent decision-making and follow-through while working with physicians and all levels of hospital personnel.
Performs open and closed record review to measure patient safety or performance improvement measures, for national data registries, federal or other payer reporting requirements and/or MPHS/Sutter initiatives. Submits data into appropriate databases to facilitate accurate reporting and data submission in a timely manner utilizing the required format. Handles verification and documentation of clinical data and adverse outcomes with MDs and RNs. May collaborate with external vendors to assure timely and accurate registry submissions.
Current CA Registered Nurse license
Bachelor's Degree preferred
Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an RN in an acute care clinical setting
Recent experience in use of Electronic Health Record for clinical documentation
Previous EPIC experience
Minimum of three (3) years experience in Quality Improvement, Quality Assurance, Peer Review- chart abstraction
Knowledge of software programs including Microsoft Suite and ability to develop power point presentations, newsletters and spreadsheets for tracking and trending reports.
Knowledge of cardiology practice of percutaneous coronary intervention procedures, cardiac anatomy and physiology, interventional cardiology devices, standard of practice and expected or adverse outcomes preferred. Knowledge of Lumedx-Apollo preferred.
