Sutter Lakeside Hospital is located in beautiful Lake County and overlooks Clear Lake, the largest natural lake in California. The hospital has a Critical Access Hospital designation, with 25 inpatient beds. There are 10 outpatient beds, a 12-bed ED, ancillary services (MRI, CT, Nuclear Med, Mammography imaging, lab, pathology, 24/7pharmacy coverage), surgical services (orthopedics, OB/GYN, general surgery, podiatry, ophthalmology, endoscopy), Family Birth Center, Intensive Care Unit, Medical-Surgical Unit, and an Outpatient Care Services Unit performing infusions, wound care and supporting outpatient procedures. The hospital also supports inpatient and outpatient physical, speech, occupational and rehab therapies. Sutter Lakeside’s campus includes two hospital-based rural health clinics, a beautiful community garden and the only Rehab Mobility Park in this part of the state. Lake County has a population of about 66,000 and is located in a fast-growing wine region only 2 hours northwest of Sacramento and 2 hours north of San Francisco.

Job Summary:

As a member of the health care team, under the direction of the RN, PA, or FNP, the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) utilizes the nursing process of basic assessment, participates in planning, executes interventions in accordance with the care plan or treatment and contributes to evaluation of individualized interventions related to care plan or treatment in the care of patients in the assigned practice. Provides direct patient care by which the licensee performs basic nursing services, administers medication and applies communication skills for the purpose of patient care and education and contributes to the development and implementation of a teaching plan related to self care for the patient. The LVN interacts with various hospital personnel, patients, and families utilizing customer service philosophies while maintaining confidentiality.

  • The LVN assists in ensuring a smooth patient flow, promotes patient satisfaction, and interacts in a positive professional manner with all customers, both internal and external.

  • Assists the Clinician as necessary as a team member and employing lean techniques of smooth flow.

  • Receives and records lab/radiological test results (may include outside medical records) via telephone or computer and ensures that those results and related reports are with the patient's medical record at the time of the patient's visit.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Graduated from an accredited Vocational School of Nursing required

  • 1-2 years of Outpatient Clinic nursing experience or equivalent preferred

Licensures/Certifications:

  • Licensed Vocational Nurse - LVN required

  • Basic Life Support Certification - BLS required

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Demonstration of basic clinical nursing skills

  • Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of the developmental stages of the neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient.

  • Excellent communication skills required

  • Demonstrates the ability to operate basic office equipment, i.e. computer, fax machine, copier, etc.

  • The ability to handle a variety of situations while remaining calm and professional, be flexible, and work independently in many situations.
