Sutter Health Privacy Consultant in Sacramento, California

Position Overview:

Responsible for supporting the privacy program by performing privacy-related functions including activities related to the confidentiality, access, use, and disclosure of protected health information and other confidential information. Provides a wide range of support to the privacy team, including assisting with developing, implementing, maintaining, and enhancing the privacy program in compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations and Sutter Health's privacy policies. Conducts privacy program reviews and assessments to evaluate compliance with state and federal regulations, and industry best practices. Supports and conducts privacy assessments of third-party vendors and internal projects. Functions as an advisor to Sutter Health business units on privacy risk related issues. Tracks privacy risks and corrective action plans. Develops and/or reviews privacy policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines to support regulatory requirements, privacy best practices, and evolving regulations. Conducts privacy related research and analysis and translates the results into meaningful inputs to the privacy program. In conjunction with privacy leadership, responsible for privacy program strategy and governance.

Job Description :

The person selected for this role must go on site for meetings, etc. and live in the Northern California Sutter Health footprint.

EDUCATION:

Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

Bachelor's: Computer Science, Information Security, Business, Management, STEM, or related field

CHPC

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

8 years of recent experience.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

In-depth working knowledge of current HIPAA privacy regulations and other pertinent and applicable state and federal regulations related to PHI.

Knowledge of healthcare clinical operations, hospital revenue cycle systems, hospital billing & coding, and healthcare compliance issues/ requirements.

General knowledge and experience in organizational consensus building.

Knowledge of healthcare business acumen with background in strategies and methodologies used to protect electronic health/medical records.

Thorough understanding of clinical data integrations and aggregation.

Must be familiar with personal computers and related software applications for presentations, spreadsheets, and word processing.

Demonstrated ability to assist with managing a privacy program in an integrated healthcare delivery system.

Proven ability to function effectively in a dynamic multi-facility environment to affect change.

Demonstrated ability to analyze problems and issues from a variety of perspectives to understand the legal, clinical, and human resource impact of decisions.

Project management skills, including the ability to initiate, plan, execute, and control activities to meet requirements and timelines of regional and system-wide initiatives or projects that are frequently driven by new or changing regulations.

Demonstrated ability to present ideas and concepts effectively to management, physicians, and employees.

Proven ability to influence and change non-compliant behavior without direct line of authority.

Demonstrated ability to visualize, and to explain in lay terms, how to convert exceedingly large quantities of data into meaningful and useful information for patients, staff, clinicians and physicians.

Established managerial and organization skills required to create effective plans and strategies with the proven ability to articulate the value of these plans/strategies, assemble consensus across all levels of the organization, and lead others through change.

Established background of leadership, team building, and mentoring.

Written/verbal interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with a broad and diverse group of patients, staff, and internal/external stakeholders.

Pay Range is $57.22 to $85.83 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
