Sutter Health EEG Technician- Per Diem in San Francisco, California
Under the direction of the Supervisor, performs Electro/Neurodiagnostic procedures on pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients, and related clerical activity.
Performs neurodiagnostic procedures in the lab, at the patient’s bedside, and in the ICU, including: adult and pediatric EEG, Video/EEG records, visual, auditory, and somato sensory evoked response studies in a clinical enviroment, eletrocorticography, and intra-operative brain-mapping procedures, as described in the departmental procedures manuals, as well as relates clerical activity.
Performs EEG testing in the operating room.
Monitors patient test results with special attention to significant abnormalities. Notifies appropriate Neurologist or physician when any urgent life-threatening abnormality is identified.
Maintains and regularly reviews preventative and corrective maintenance for Neurodiagnostic equipment/instrumentation, including contact with repair, vendor, and preventative maintenance personnel. Complete written records are maintained.
Exercises sound, independent judgment in solving routine problems, promptly notifying Supervisor of unresolved problems. Action consistent with good judgment is promptly taken to resolve routine problems.
Communicates with medical, nursing, and departmental staffs to clarify test orders when received, arrange for the scheduling and transportation.
Maintains effective upwards flow of information. Department Supervisor is kept informed of workload variance; accomplished versus pending prior to leaving shift.
Cleans EEG instruments after each use, promptly notifying Supervisor of any malfunction or problem.
Conducts regular supply inventory and reorder as defined by established reorder points. Maintains accurate, organized, and up-to-date supply records. No work interruptions occur due to lack of supplies.
Performs appropriate departmental record-keeping in accordance to Departmental Policies and Procedures.
All patient schedules and logs are maintained and reviewed for accuracy.
Patient billing activity is accurately and effectively carried out. Files are maintained according to Departmental Policies and procedures.
Files confirmed reports and distributes them as needed to keep report turn-around time within limits stated in departmental policy and procedures manual.
Participates in appropriate professional and technical meetings.
As appropriate, sets up patient appointments and arranges patient transportation within hospital.
Provides interactive and collaborative patient and family education.
Accepts and performs other relates duties and responsibilities as required.
Adheres to all Medical Center policies and procedures (i.e. Administrative and Human Resources), practices safe work habits, and engages in good business standards and practices.
Completion of an accredited training course in clinical EEG techniques desirable preferred.
Registered Electroencephalographic Technician - R-EEGT preferred.
Experience as an EEG Technician in a Neurodiagnostic lab of an acute care facility as typically acquired in one year required.
