Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation is a not for profit corporation that exists to provide medical services, research and education. The foundation provides the infrastructure for the delivery of physician services, and contracts with a separate corporation comprised of physicians and other care providers to deliver the clinical services. This multi-specialty foundation will provide a platform from which new physicians can be recruited to continue to provide physician services in a nonprofit, community setting. Performs breast imaging procedures on adult and geriatric patients at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail
Performs a variety of technical procedures that requires independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in applying ionizing radiation for a radiologic diagnosis
Responsible for designated areas of procedures as required
Performs mammography imaging examinations based on current modality proficiency as outlined in the routine procedures manual, in order to attain diagnostic information for radiologist/physician interpretation on a daily basis.
Analyzes and determines if images are processed with all the correct information and appropriate for radiologic interpretation. Demonstrates the ability to correct minor equipment problems and escalate to a supervisor those that he/she cannot correct.
Selects the correct technical factors on an individual patient basis by reviewing previous mammographic images in order to provide good quality diagnostic results. Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
Documents accurate information, continuously coordinates and documents all pertinent information pertaining to each patient’s mammography examination, inclusive of previous reports, and current referral requests.
Performs breast sonography skillfully and with accurate film labeling.
Assists radiologist in performing interventional procedures such as needle localizations, fine needle aspirations, ultrasound guided core biopsies and stereotactic core biopsies.
Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within accepted scope of practice, and applicable state/federal regulations. Assures that assigned staff follows established protocols for contrast administration.
Oversees quality control testing, equipment maintenance and trouble shooting.
Implements radiation protection and safety standards to minimize radiation exposure to staff and patients.
Assesses and educates patients according to specific department protocols.
Serves as resource/mentor to department staff as well as other members of the health care team as needed.
May be required to train/precept students and new techs.

HS Diploma required
Graduate of approved school of Radiologic Technology required
LICENSURES & CERTIFICATIONS:
Certified Radiologic Technologist – CRT required
Radiology Mammography – RHM required
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – ARRT preferred
Previous experience as a Radiologic Technologist is required
Prior work experience in an acute care facility is preferred
Experience in Mammography as typically acquired in two years required
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
Must maintain a working knowledge of the latest developments in radiologic procedures and techniques.
Must be knowledgeable of technical factors, methodologies and equipment necessary to obtain quality data.
