Position Overview:

Candidates must reside in California.

16hrs/week: Tuesday & Wednesday each week and rotating every 3rd weekend

Successful candidate will have medical scheduling experience, excellent computer skills, medical terminology and IDC coding. Ideal candidate will have Home Health scheduling experience.

The Scheduler position is the key position to coordinate staffing and provides timely and appropriate staffing for safe and effective care delivery. Optimally schedules PCC-RNs, PCC-PTs, Case Managers, Team RNs, Physical and other therapists, Home Health Aides (HHA), Medical Social Workers (MSW) and Dieticians to accomplish patient visits. Maintains coordination of the Weekend/Holiday Staff Schedule, the On-Call RN schedule and the HHAs daily assignments. Ensures that all Starts of Care (SOC), Resumptions of Care (ROC) and Eval packets are distributed to the Rehab team members and to the Team Care Coordinators (TCC) for nursing assignments. Ensures that communications from patients, physicians and caregivers are relayed in a timely manner. Demonstrates effective liaison activities and interdepartmental communication and cooperation to support essential agency activities.

EDUCATION

  • Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

  • HS Diploma Or equivalent education/experience

  • Other: Related courses in business skills required.

  • Other: Graduation from an accredited program of secretarial science.

  • Associate's: Management, Medical Records, Business or a related field

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider

  • Current PPD

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

  • Previous experience in home care or other medical staffing strongly preferred.

  • 2 years previous experience with secretarial and computer work skills as is typically acquired in a health care organization office setting.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Developed clerical and computer skills required.

  • Must have a working knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Must have excellent computer word processing skills with the ability to enter at least 50 CWPM and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel software program.

  • Must have knowledge of general office practices and procedures including filing, record keeping, photocopying and faxing.

  • Must be able to follow a defined list of tasks and follow the established procedures completing them in a timely fashion.

  • Must be able to flex with the increased workflow when census is higher and recognize urgency of each task.

  • Must have working ability in Excel or the ability to achieve standard within two months of hire.

  • Must be able to work in a Windows environment, have basic competence in the MS Office and be willing and able to learn new computer software package.

  • Must have excellent communication skills and phone presentation in interactions with patients and staff.

  • Must be able to prioritize workload, work with minimal supervision, organize and complete tasks accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Must be able to organize varied and possibly conflicting time constraints with calm reaction to frequent and often last minute schedule changes.

  • Must be able to exercise good judgment related to urgent staffing needs for safe care delivery.

  • Ability to maintain harmonious constructive relationships with internal and external customers.

  • Demonstrated skills in effective written and verbal communication.

  • Must have the ability to secure adequate transportation or other means to report to work in a timely manner.

  • Must be able to handle sensitive issues, conflict with or among others, respectively direct and reinforce staff efforts; effectively plan and organize and prioritize work, and to effectively solve unique problems as they arise or identify when to consult supervisor.

  • Must be able to deal with a challenging work environment from time demands and conflicting priorities.

  • Maintain a positive and professional image and demonstrate self-directed learning to meet professional development and/or license requirements.

  • At orientation and annually thereafter, must be able to meet core competencies for position and area of specialty, as appropriate.

  • Ability to be aware of surroundings and respond to emergency and/or urgent events.

  • Must be detail-oriented.

  • Ability to communicate with possibly disoriented, combative patients.

  • Ability to work in mentally and physically demanding environment.

Pay Range is $26.04 to $34.50 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
