Sutter Health Certified Nurse Midwife Santa Cruz in Santa Cruz, California

Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the designated physician, provides comprehensive primary health care to a select population of

essentially healthy women. Participates in the care of women with medical complications in collaboration with the OB/GYN

physicians. Shares in the planning and organization of the Nurse-Midwifery Service.



  • Graduate from an accredited school of nurse midwifery

  • Successful completion upon hire or within 3 months of hire of a CNM First Assistant at Cesarean Section Course meeting the requirements set forth by the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM)

Licensures and Certifications:

  • California State Licensure - RN

  • Certified Nurse Midwife - CNM

  • Licensed Midwife - LMW

  • Nurse Midwife Furnishing - NMF

  • Basic Life Support - BLS (American Heart Association)

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider - NRP


  • Six months related clinical experience

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Bilingual (Spanish)

  • Medical knowledge and skills applicable to perform within the scope of practice

  • Verbal and written communication skills for interaction with physicians, patients and staff

  • Computer skills: EHR capable, Outlook email and Microsoft Word proficient

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to work with others in a flexible, cooperative, tactful and diplomatic manner

  • Must be able to handle varying procedures and interruptions
