Position Overview:

Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in compliance with all state and federal regulations, assist the ASCs and the pharmacist in the appropriate and effective rendering of medication needs. To perform functions and assume responsibilities which will facilitate the providing of quality pharmaceutical care and services.

Job Description :

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

Receives, stores and distributes medications. Performs inventory management functions.

Provides information as requested regarding med procurement issues, costs, shortages, back ordered items etc.

Performs medication outdates and handles drug disposal. Assumes responsibility for waste reduction and cost containment.

Generates and maintains necessary records

Orders medications

Maintains cleanliness, orderliness of medication areas

Performs controlled substances inventory

EDUCATION

Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

PHRMTECHR-Registered Pharmacy Technician and PTCB certified Upon Hire

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

6-9 years Minimum of 6 years of pharmacy experience

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of medical terminology, generic and trade pharmaceutical names.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for regular contact with employees; requires tact.

Pharmaceutical calculations and laws and regulations.

Knowledge and understanding of different Pharmacy practice settings, including narcotic delivery and procedures.

Knowledge and ability to identify and employ pharmaceutical and medical terms, abbreviations and symbols commonly used in prescribing, dispensing and record keeping of medications.

Ability to work with others in a flexible and cooperative manner

Knowledge and the ability to carry out calculations for common dosage determination.

Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to details when verifying information and/or procedures

Knowledge and understanding of the identification of medications, medication dosages, routes of administration, dosage forms, and storage requirements.

Requires a basic working knowledge of legal requirements and accreditation standards including AAAHC, Title XXII, DHS, DEA, FDA and USP.

Able to use a computer

Ability to perform the manipulative and record keeping functions involved in and relating to dispensing prescriptions, manufacturing, packaging and labeling of medication productions.

May interpret and enter physician orders.

Perform sterile parenteral procedures using proper aseptic technique.

Must have the skills to produce accurate work results within established timeframes.

Pay Range is $31.45 to $39.10 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
