Sutter Gould Medical Foundation (SGMF) is a non-profit, multi-specialty health care organization affiliated with Sutter Health. Based in Modesto, SGMF provides quality medical care, health education and research activities in a five-county Central Valley area. SGMF's medical staff includes family practitioners, internists and pediatricians, as well as a range of specialist physicians. Services include imaging, nuclear medicine, a health library, health education programs, occupational medicine, cardiac rehabilitation, diabetes education, nutrition counseling, infertility counseling, weight management.
The Surgical Technician assists the surgeon during a surgical operation. The surgical technician scrubs for procedures and performs other duties related to the preparation and maintenance of the operating room (OR) environment and assists with the peri-operative care of patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN) at the surgery center. This position ensures the operating suite is adequately prepared for procedure, taking into consideration the population specific needs for patients at all stages of life.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school graduate or GED certificate. Graduate of approved course for OR Surgical Technologists or equivalent training. Surgical Technologist Certification preferred and/or equivalent training. Current BLS for Healthcare Providers card is required.
Experience: Skills in assisting a surgeon in the operating room such as would be gained through a minimum of 6 months in a like position.
Knowledge: Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology. Knowledge of what constitutes a medical emergency. Knowledge of scope of practice of a licensed nurse or Surgical Technician. A knowledge of possible surgical and anesthesia complications.
Special Skills/Equipment: Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate in English. Able to deal effectively with challenging customer service interactions and the stresses that may be present in the operating room. The ability to maintain composure during an emergency. Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information. Ability to pay attention to detail and perform work accurately. Organizational skills and ability to prioritize work. The ability to be flexible and learn new surgical procedures to enhance assisting skills. The ability to be a team player and assist in any way necessary. Ability to be self directed maintaining maximum efficiency as well as work with minimal supervision.
